Use the umpire to your advantage it will pay dividends with more goals

Play to the umpire’s whistle! This means the team’s strategy and individual play must adjust to the umpire’s ruling and calls whether the calls are right or wrong. For example, the umpire may call a long three feet or not pick up obstructions or offside.

If a player doesn’t adjust to the umpire’s whistle she will eventually become rattled and lose concentration effectively putting this team member momentarily out of play because she is upset by the umpire’s decision.

Your team now only has six players fully effective on court until the upset player composes herself again.

I have seen too many teams lose games they should have won all because players’ concentration is averted at umpire’s poor calls. It only takes one turnover through ineffective play for the opposition team to win. Becoming upset is ineffective play and poor sportsmanship to boot.

Play to the umpire’s whistle and you will be amazed at how many more goals you can score as a fully functional team.
